IronBark Hill Vineyard is located on a 40.5 hectare (100 acre) property on Hermitage Road in Pokolbin.
Currently, there are 15 hectares under vine. The vineyard’s white varieties include: Chardonnay, Semillon and Verdelho and IronBark’s red varieties include: Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. An exciting new variety called Tyrian, developed by the CSIRO, has recently been planted and is a crossbreed of the Cabernet Sauvignon and the rare Spanish Sumoll variety. This innovative planting is the first of its kind in the Hunter and demonstrates IronBark’s commitment to developing the region and cementing the vineyard’s place in the forefront of the industry.
Most of the IronBark Hill vines were planted in the 1980’s, but due to growth and increased demand for IronBark’s premium wines additional plantings of Chardonnay and Semillon have recently increased the production capacity of the vineyard.
